Oreo Milkshake

Where is the best milkshake you’ve ever tasted? For me, one of my favorites is at Ted’s Bulletin in DC. Not only do you get the true diner experience with old fashioned glasses, they give you the leftovers in a metal cup so you really get the bang for your buck.

As I thought about delighting in that experience, I wanted to craft my own which turns out is super simple! All you need are three main ingredients and you’ll never go back to Chick-fil-A again…for a milkshake at least:)

Do you really need just three ingredients?

  • Yes! It’s that simple – Vanilla ice cream, milk and Oreos. Make sure you use whole milk for the best results as it makes the shake perfectly creamy.
  • Use high quality ice cream. I promise, it pays off to splurge a few extra bucks for the good stuff.
  • How do you soften the ice cream? Just let it sit on the counter undisturbed for 10-15 minutes. This temperature will allow everything to emulsify nicely when combining ingredients.

How do you take your shake – crazy thick or nice and milky?

The great thing about this recipe is you can tailor it however you like. If you like thicker milkshakes, add a little more ice cream. If you prefer it thinner, add a little more milk. And if you’re crazy for Coco Puffs, add more Oreos!

Let's talk toppings

I loveee some whipped cream on top. But feel free to go crazy with these. Add cherries, sprinkles or different kinds of drizzles like chocolate or caramel sauce.

21+ crowd

A little Bailey’s mixed into the shake is never a bad idea. I call this adultifying your dessert experience. This fine spirit will give the milkshake another level of creaminess that truly levels up. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
